getting the hang

  • It feels like I am figuring this out but by tomorrow it may be a distant memory. Sorry Leah, I hadn't seen the pics in the first blog. So here are the pictures of what radiation therapy is like. Dustin is one of the few who actually likes the feeling of being strapped down, say it is comforting. Most people are either taking ativan before or getting prompted in relaxation techniques by the alternative/complimentary medicine nurse on site. Anyway after Thursday it is over! and on to happier days, spring, flowers, gardens and hopefully a Bierhanzl get together.

keeping up

Hey,
Found the site again, gave up last night but refreshed this AM, for now anyway. This looks totally different than when I posted the first time so don't know how this will work. Will try to send a picture but all that I have onDustin's laptop (which I am using) are pictures of Kai. Hopefully I can send the ones of Dustin aka Hannibal Lecter receiving radiation.
As far as travel,If there are places you want to go, Louise, you should try to do it. Daddy credo was to go for it, do, experience what you want. He certainly knew that life was precious with no guarantees. Luckily Dustin and I did do a lot before he was sick and are still planning and hopeful that we can continue to travel see and do more. Just do it.
Picures were easy, it's finding the blog site that I bfind difficult. Should get easier and Edward is right, Leah, great idea but where are your pictures?
love,
Joyce

Louise visits Marie

How nice that so many of you are traveling. I'm going nowhere, except to Long Island every other weekend.
Wow, it took me about a half an hour to insert this picture, but I will get better. Right now I'm using Seth's computer. I should be getting my new computer soon and I will figure it all out. Anyway I took this photo of Marie in the beginning of April. I took about 20 photos with my digital camera in order to get a good one. She's wearing her new blouse that we got at JJill, on sale. It was a really small size, but then Marie is now a really small size, around 95lbs. She also got some wrist weights so she can exercise. She does the group exercises and also goes to the Tai Chi class. She went down to the Tai Chi class one day when I was visiting and when she came up I asked if she had a good class. She said the instructor never showed up so she was down with the other residents making jokes !

Up to no good...

That look spells trouble.
And speaking of spelling, I noticed I didn't do so good in my first post. I'll work on that.
The pic is from Colonial Williamsburg a few weeks ago - a good time was had by all. Posted by Picasa

Belated Easter

Leah is a genius. And if this works I'll be looking pretty smart as well. It turns out, not only is it easy to set up an account an post, the software I use for our pictures lets you pick a picture and post it with oner click.
This is a test post, by the way. That's Graham coloring easter eggs in the kitchen. More to follow... Posted by Picasa

Testing & Jumping

If you squint it looks like a giraffe with a really pretty face swimming in a cage. OK, I am admittedly hesitant about posting because I don’t like writing and I really don’t like people reading what I write. I am also naturally reluctant to anything new in the computer world. I had to keep telling myself that tons of people blog so it can’t be that tricky. So, I put one foot in front of the other in order to avoid becoming a technological dinosaur. As it turns out it’s about as easy to post as it is to write an email. Leah has done all the computer savvy stuff for us. Thank you! By the way Leah, this was a really thoughtful thing for you to do. As our moderator you have total censorship control. How about that?

I have to second the post below; the week spent together in Athens was magnificent. What are the chances that Ari and Taylor’s spring break would be the same week as Emma’s? The week fell two days after Taylor’s birthday, two days before Ariana’s birthday and right on Harper’s birthday. Needless to say we did lots of celebrating. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Harper was surrounded by so much love and attention. After a pleasant but long winter I was really ready for some familiar faces. Although saying goodbye was sad, I knew Harper and I would be flying up to NY in just 3 weeks time and after that there is hope for a summer trip up north.

Happy in Georgia

We just got home after an incredible visit with Mj, Josh, and Harper. They are the sweetest family, Harper is sooo funny, he makes this very funny face scrunch and snort at anything that falls into his "disagreeable" catagory. Such as, "eww, mushy peas." or "mom, keep moving!" or "cake on my fingers?"All followed by a hard scrunch and snort. We did soooo much laughing when we were there. Harper is just as full of open mouth smiles, giggles, and kisses as nasal noises . He was so cool with us all invading for a week. We did and saw an unbelievable amount, an aquarium, studios, museums, blizzards, a flu bug, hopscotch and birthdays. Mj had planned so much, she's the best, and is such an awesome mama. She totaly takes care of little Haper with so much love, and some how manages not to do all the overprotective 1st time mama stuff. Speaking of mama stuff, I must go chase Jack around- he is done with his toast and done with my posting.
